Gov. Braun signs order to modernize Bureau of Motor Vehicles

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Gov. Mike Braun signed two executive orders Tuesday to enhance customer service for Hoosiers by modernizing technology at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) and streamlining the permitting process in Indiana’s transportation network.

Braun’s first order focuses on updating the BMV’s digital systems, specifically the System Tracking and Record Support (STARS) software, which was implemented in 2004 and now costs around $10 million annually to maintain.
