Warrant issued for Indianapolis man after deadly October 2024 crash on city’s north side

INDIANAPOLIS — A warrant has been issued for the arrest of an Indianapolis man accused of being involved in a deadly crash on the city’s north side.

IMPD officers responded to the 6200 block of North Keystone Avenue, near East 62nd Street, on the report of a crash on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, just after 10 a.m.

According to court documents, a 2023 Volvo C40, allegedly driven by Derrik McGee, was heading north on North Keystone Avenue in the center lane, crossing East 62nd Street. At the same time, court documents say a 2001 Toyota Avalon, driven by 67-year-old Joni Craner, was trying to leave a car wash parking lot on the east side of the street and turned into the path of the Volvo. As the Toyota was turning, the Volvo allegedly crashed into the driver’s side of the Avalon, pushing both vehicles across the meridian and into the south lanes…
