Hancock County declares state of emergency after severe flooding

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Hancock County Board of Commissioners has declared a state of emergency following last week’s heavy rainfall and flooding.

Several days of significant rainfall began on April 2, leading to water rescues and numerous reports of damage to buildings, homes, and other property.

“Over the last few days, we traveled around the county performing damage assessments from the storm,” Hancock County Homeland Security Director Misty Moore said. “In talking with state officials and the board of commissioners, the emergency proclamation will help residents and the county with additional resources and assistance.”…
