Indiana lawmakers send bill to explore taking Illinois counties to governor’s desk

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana lawmakers have passed a bill to invite Illinois counties into the Hoosier state. The House voted to concur with the Senate version on April 17.

House Enrolled Act 1008 now heads to Gov. Mike Braun’s desk for consideration.

“Indiana is a great place to live, work, raise your kids and enjoy a high quality of life,” Speaker Todd Huston, the bill’s author, said. “We welcome our neighbors in Illinois seeking lower taxes and more opportunity to join us in the Hoosier state. House Enrolled Act 1008 starts that conversation and I’m eager to see it become law.”…
