DANVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Police on Monday afternoon fatally shot a 65-year-old Plainfield man who’d fired a gun as a group of jail inmates approached the Hendricks County Courthouse.

The man was later identified as Mark Vawter.

State police say the shooting happened just before 1 p.m. Monday as the courts prepared to start afternoon hearings. It was not immediately clear if Vawter knew any of the inmates entering the Courthouse…
