Indianapolis man sentenced to 108 years in prison for violent rape in 2021

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis man was sentenced Thursday to 108 years in prison for a violent sexual assault that happened in 2021, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office says.

Kevin Bennett was found guilty of three counts of rape, kidnapping, criminal confinement, and battery by means of a deadly weapon after a jury trial in April in Marion Superior Court 30.

Bennett was 28 when Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s violent crimes unit and federal authorities took Bennett into custody on a warrant out of Philadelphia for his alleged role in a series of sexual assaults. He was arrested May 22, 2021, after leaving a fish and chicken restaurant and heading to a United Wireless store at a strip mall on near East 38th Street and Mitthoefer Road on the northeast side of Indianapolis. Federal agents said they found Bennett with two guns, 44 grams of meth, a $6,300 bracelet reportedly taken during a robbery in Mississippi — the price tag and UPC code were still attached — and more than $14,000 in cash…
