INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis woman was drunk, high and traveling more than 35 mph over the speed limit at the time of a crash that killed one person and injured three others earlier this year downtown, according to court documents.
Estajah Bartley was charged May 8 with the following in connection with the Feb. 22 crash that killed 37-year-old Alexander Roy Melton:
- Causing death when operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated
- Causing death when operating a motor vehicle with an ACE of .08 or more
- Causing death when operating a motor vehicle with a Schedule I or II controlled substance
- Reckless homicide (using vehicle)
- Causing serious bodily injury when operating a vehicle while intoxicated
- Causing serious bodily injury when operating a vehicle while intoxicated
- Causing serious bodily injury when operating a motor vehicle with an ACE of .08
- Causing serious bodily injury when operating a motor vehicle with an ACE of .08
- Causing serious bodily injury when operating a vehicle with a Schedule I or II substance
- Causing serious bodily injury when operating a vehicle with a Schedule I or II substance
The crash, which involved a Nissan sedan, Kia sedan and US Postal Service truck, happened around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 near East McCarty Street and Madison Avenue.
