Friday’s severe weather threat heightened

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We are tracking a threat for severe weather Thursday night and again Friday afternoon-night. The risk for Friday is higher and could be a more widespread event.

Thursday night: Some storm development may occur into tonight as a cap tries to prevent activity from getting going. The best chance for any storm formation will be north of interstate 70, but areas near and south of interstate 70 need to remain weather aware.

There is an Enhanced Risk (level 3/5) near and north of interstate 70 with areas south under a Slight Risk (level 2/5). All hazards are possible with wind and hail the main concerns. Isolated tornadoes are also possible.

Lows in the upper 60s to low 70s for what will be more of a summerlike night ahead.

Friday: We always say don’t be scared, be prepared. This is especially when it comes to higher-end severe risk days. Same principle applies for Friday from 5-11 PM for severe weather potential. Multiple storm clusters are possible with discrete cells less likely, but not totally out of the question. Overall, numerous to widespread strong-severe storms could evolve…
