Indy Parks to host free meals program for youth

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indy Parks and Recreation Department is returning in 2025 to serve meals to the community.

According to its website, the Indy Parks Meals Program has served more than 3 million meals to the community since the program began in 2013. In 2023, the program served 191,396 meals to residents across the city.

The department’s summer meal service is free and open to all youth 18 and under, Monday through Friday. There is no registration necessary, but the youth must be present and eat the meal on site.

The following sites will be serving meals Monday through Friday:

  • BRAVE Music Enterprises, located at 3969 Meadows Dr. from 12-1 p.m.
  • Broad Ripple Park, located at 1610 Broad Ripple Ave. from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Christ Missionary Church, located at 1001 Eugene St. from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Christian Park, located at 4200 E English Ave. from 12-2 p.m.
  • Ellenberger Park, located at 5301 E. Saint Clair St. from 12-12:30 p.m.
  • Frederick Douglass Park, located at 1616 E. 25th St. from 12-12:45 p.m.
  • Garfield Park, located at 2345 Pagoda Dr. from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
  • Krannert Park, located at 2901 West Mooresville Rd. from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Riverside Park, located at 2420 E. Riverside Dr. from 12-2 p.m.
  • Watkins Park, located at 2360 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. from 3-4 p.m.
  • Windsor Village Park, located at 6510 E. 25th St. from 12-1 p.m.

The department will also host mobile serving sites Monday through Friday. The website states that there are five mobile units that will serve meals throughout the city.

  • Wes Montgomery Park, located at 3400 N Hawthorne Ln. from 2:30-3 p.m.
  • Grassy Creek Park, located at 10510 E. 30th St. from 3:30-4 p.m.
  • Jake Greene Park, located at 1700 N Franklin Rd. from 4:30-5 p.m.

Mobile Unit 2:

  • Laurelwood Apartments, located at 3340 Teakwood Dr. from 11-11:30 a.m.
  • Clayton & LaSalle, located at 401 S LaSalle St. from 12-12:30 p.m.
  • O’Bannon Park, located at 1001 E. 16th St. from 1-1:30 p.m.
  • Brookside Pool, located at 3510 Brookside Pkwy S Dr. from 2:30-3 p.m.
  • Commons Park, located at 2204 E New York St. from 3:30-4 p.m.
  • Stanley Strader Pool, located at 2850 Bethel Ave. from 4:30-5 p.m.

  • Blackburn Terrace Apartments, located at 3091 Baltimore Ave. from 12-12:30 p.m.
  • Arsenal Park, located at 1400 E 46th St. from 1-1:30 p.m.
  • Andrew Ramsey Park, located at 310 W 42nd St. from 2:30-3 p.m.
  • Tarkington Park, located at 45 W 40th St. from 3:30-4 p.m.
  • Bertha Ross Park, located at 3700 Clifton St. from 4:30-5 p.m.

Mobile Unit 4:

  • Haughville Park, located at 520 N Bellview Pl. from 11-11:30 a.m.
  • Eagle Branch Library, located at 3905 Moller Rd. from 12-12:30 p.m.
  • Gustafson Pool, located at 3110 Moller Rd. from 2:30-3 p.m.
  • Bowman Park, located at 3600 Auburn Rd. from 3:15-3:45 p.m.
  • Centennial and Groff Park, located at 2300 N Centennial St. from 4-4:30 p.m.
