Gravel spill forces officials to temporarily close all lanes of I-465 northbound on west side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A gravel spill forced officials to close all lanes of Interstate 465 northbound on the west side of Indianapolis Monday night.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, all lanes of I-465 northbound were shut down at mile marker 12.9 because a load of gravel was spilled on the road. INDOT reported that traffic was diverted onto U.S. Highway 36 via Exit 13 while officials worked to clean up the spilled gravel.

INDOT sent a notification about the spill around 10:34 p.m. As of 11:20 p.m., traffic appeared to be moving through the area impacted by the gravel spill.
