5 to be sentenced for murder of man forced to make ransom calls

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A Marion County court has set July sentencings for five people connected to the murder of a 28-year-old man in December 2022 in Indianapolis who’d been forced to call his grandmother as part of a ransom demand.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were on an unrelated investigation just after 8 a.m. Dec. 8, 2022, when Corbin Rogers was found dead in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds inside a vacant home in the 100 block of North Euclid Avenue. Investigators believe Rogers had been taken hostage as part of a dispute over a missing car.

Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said in a news release issued Friday, “What happened to Corbin was as shocking as it was sickening. It’s not only shameful that three adults planned and executed this sinister plot but that they allowed two people under the age of 18 (to) partake.”…
