White River kayaking accident leaves woman clinging to tree, rescued by IFD

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Firefighters rescued a 53-year-old woman from the White River on Indy’s southwest side after her kayak overturned, leaving her clinging to a tree for about two hours.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. Sunday near Sandhurst Drive and Newhart Street, just west of the I-465/I-69 interchange.
