Indianapolis – Several new laws go into effect tomorrow in the state of Indiana. A couple that effect many Hoosiers are an increase in the Cigarette Tax and an increase in the Gasoline Tax. Hoosier smokers will see the price of a pack of cigarettes increase by $3.00. That will make the average price of a pack of cigarettes $11.00. The Indiana gasoline excise tax will increase by a penny. The gas tax is indexed to inflation, but the annual increase is capped to a cent. The total tax on a gallon of gas in the state will now be 36 cents. The gasoline sales tax, which is updated monthly, will increase tomorrow too.
