Monroe County investigation into stolen trailer leads to 2 arrests, including wanted Alabama man

MONROE COUNTY, Ind. — A Monroe County investigation into a stolen trailer from Kentucky led to the arrest of two individuals, including a man wanted from Alabama.

According to a news release form the Monroe County Sheriff’s office, deputies located a stolen trailer being towed by a utility truck near the intersection of W 3rd Street and S Liberty Drive at around 8:25 p.m. on Tuesday.

The release said that deputies contacted the occupants of the vehicle in a nearby parking lot, later identified as 30-year-old Austin Martin, an Indianapolis resident, and 33-year-old Brad Blakely, a Gadsden, Alabama resident.

During the investigation, officials said that the trailer was determined to be reported stolen out of Kentucky. The release said that Blakely had a “nationwide-extradition warrant out of Alabama in relation to felony weapon charges.”

As deputies searched Blakely, he reportedly had around 26 grams of suspected methamphetamine on him. The documents said that an additional bag of suspected methamphetamine containing around 112 grams was also found inside the vehicle.

The two men were taken into custody on the following preliminary charges:

  • Martin
    • One count of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony
  • Blakely
    • One count of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 4 felony
    • Felony arrest warrant out of Alabama

The release said that the stolen trailer was impounded and is being held in secure storage before it is retrieved by its owner…
