Developer lets slip who’s behind south side data center, and it’s a name you know

For months residents on the southeast side of Indianapolis have been fighting a planned data center project in their backyard without knowing the name of their foe, just that it’s an anonymous Fortune 100 company.

But now, through an apparent slip, residents have a name behind the sprawling development: Google.

The search engine company owns another data center under construction in Fort Wayne and could be building several more in Indiana as big tech companies race to build enough infrastructure to power cloud services and the rise of artificial intelligence…
