Suburban woman airlifted after boating accident on Indiana river

A suburban woman was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital after being injured in a boating accident along the Tippecanoe River in north central Indiana, authorities said.

The accident was reported at around 7 p.m. on Saturday outside the town of Buffalo, approximately 35 miles north of Lafayette. According to authorities, the driver of the boat struck a submerged dredge pipe while in the dredge operation zone. The boat came to a sudden stop, causing some of the riders to be thrown overboard, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said in a news release.

A 39-year-old Glenview woman was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, authorities stated. She was listed in stable condition after sustaining facial injuries. The boat’s operator, a 76-year-old Glenview man, was taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette for treatment…
