Salvation Army hands out backpacks, shoes and supplies for back-to-school

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Salvation Army of Central Indiana on Tuesday had a back-to-school event at its Fountain Square community center, providing children with free backpacks and school supplies.

The event, which has been held for over 15 years, offered children the chance to pick out backpacks filled with notebooks, folders, pencils and more. Additionally, 200 pre-registered kids received new shoes and socks.
