IMPD, US Marshals track Indianapolis shooting suspect to Atlanta

INDIANAPOLIS — Fleeing the state didn’t stop Indianapolis police investigators from arresting a woman suspected of shooting and injuring a man in Indianapolis.

On Thursday, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest of Christiona Hutchinson in connection with a July 5 shooting. Investigators said the shooting occurred in the 1400 block of Burdsal Parkway in Indianapolis. Police didn’t become aware of the shooting until the victim showed up at a hospital.

The victim, an adult male, survived the shooting, according to police, despite being critical injured.

Police traced the shooting to Hutchinson after finding an abandoned vehicle at the crime scene. The vehicle belonged to Hutchinson, IMPD said, and a firearm was uncovered hidden beneath the SUV’s hood.

IMPD detectives, with the assistance of U.S. Marshals and local law enforcement, ended up tracking Hutchinson to Atlanta, Georgia, where she was arrested on Wednesday.
