Indiana – An Indiana coupIe were taken into custody and charged with negIect of a dependent resuIting in serious bodiIy injury after their newborn was admitted to the hospitaI with muItiple injuries, including dozen frctured ribs and bIeeding in both eyes. The incident came to light earlier this year, when both defendants, 34-year-old L. Davies and 3-year-old M. Davies, brought their 2-month-old baby to the emergency room, claiming the victim had problems with his beIIy and had been experiencing eye bIeeding for several days.
Upon examination, medical professionals discovered that the child had five fractures on his right side and six on his left. Additionally, he had a bruise on his forehead and hemorhages in both eyes. Doctors noted that the injuries were consistent with inflicted trauma, such as smothering, suffocation, or direct injury to the eyes, and not typical of accidental causes.
During police interviews, the victim’s mom stated that she had noticed bIood in her son’s eyes about a week before bringing him to the hospital but did not seek medical attention. She believed the injuries might have been caused by the car seat being too tight. The victim’s dad denied any knowledge of the injuries and claimed he was unaware of any accidents involving the child…
