‘I’m not going to lose my f****** job over you’: IMPD officer placed on leave for allegedly using agency resources to harass ex-wife

INDIANAPOLIS — An officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was placed on administrative leave after he allegedly harassed his ex-wife.

According to court documents filed Monday, 38-year-old Nicholas Cauley used police resources — including his IMPD email account and license plate lookup tools — to harass his ex-wife. Cauley now faces three charges — two counts of official misconduct and one count of harassment via computer or electronic communication.

Court records indicate Cauley and his ex-wife agreed to dissolve their marriage in August 2024. They were officially divorced in December.

In the months following the divorce, Cauley allegedly harassed his ex-wife via text and call. According to court documents, when Cauley’s ex-wife attempted to block him from texting or calling her, he resorted to sending her emails and other messages through Facebook, Instagram, PayPal, Hinge and Pinterest…
