As temperatures soar, IMPD reminds parents to not leave kids in car

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Two weeks ago, Indianapolis Metro Police officers were dispatched to 38th and Moeller Road to rescue a child from a hot car. As temperatures continue to sizzle here in central Indiana, IMPD wants to remind folks never to leave their child or pet unattended inside a vehicle.

IMPD officer Micki Sturrock’s quick actions helped save the life of a young child from a hot car earlier this month. While this isn’t her first time doing these types of runs, it is her first time having to use force to rescue a child.

“This was the first time in 11 years I’ve had to actually break a kid out of a car.” Sturrock said, “But it’s not the first time I’ve thought about it.”…
