IMPD: 2 arrested after reported near west side fatal overdose in February

INDIANAPOLIS — Officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department have arrested two individuals after an overdose death occurred on the near west side of Indianapolis in February.

According to a post on social media from the department, Zachary Daniels and Tiffany Cole were both arrested in relation to the death of 31-year-old Casey Gentry. Both Daniels and Cole have been preliminarily charged with dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death.

On the evening of Feb. 23, IMPD officers were called to investigate a reported overdose in the 1400 block of N Berwick Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Gentry, who was reportedly suffering from an apparent overdose. Gentry was pronounced dead on the scene.

The post read that during the investigation, officers reportedly recovered multiple paraphernalia items, along with suspected heroin, from the scene. As the investigation continued, detectives were able to identify Daniels as the alleged person who sold the drugs to Gentry.

Detectives were able to link Daniels to an address located in the 1200 block of Shepard Street. After a search warrant was granted, Daniels was taken into federal custody. During the search of the home, detectives reportedly seized two firearms as well as methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana…
