The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has announced a hazardous weather outlook for today and the upcoming days. With thunderstorms expected to roll in mainly between 4pm and 5pm, and potentially continuing after 5pm, authorities urge caution due to the possibility of severe storms with damaging winds in the afternoon. Commuters and residents in central Indiana are advised to plan accordingly, especially as “hot and humid conditions will continue this afternoon, especially over southern portions of the area where heat indices will reach into the 100 to 105 degree range,” according to the NWS advisory.
This evening’s weather is set to calm somewhat as the likelihood of scattered showers and thunderstorms diminishes before 8pm, followed by only isolated showers between 8pm and 9pm. The mercury is expected to drop to a more comfortable low around 69 degrees with a gentle north wind hovering around 7 mph. In light of the “isolated severe storms with damaging winds” possibility, the NWS has indicated that spotter activation this afternoon is low, but nonetheless, “spotters are encouraged to send reports of any strong winds observed.”
Looking ahead, Wednesday promises mostly cloudy skies, with highs around 82 degrees and north winds blowing at 6 to 9 mph, while Wednesday night temperatures should dip to around 65 degrees. Residents looking forward to more stable weather will appreciate a streak of mostly sunny and clear conditions from Thursday through to Sunday, with temperatures steadily increasing from the low 80s and peaking at 85 on Saturday…
