Washington Street closures begin for IndyGo Blue Line project

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — IndyGo has said it will close sections of Washington Street in Indianapolis starting Tuesday for construction on its Blue Line bus rapid transit project.

The Blue Line is set by 2028 to run 24 miles, connecting the Indianapolis International Airport to the town of Cumberland via downtown Indianapolis along I-70, Holt Road, and Washington Street.

The Tuesday closure, expected to last about six months, will be along Washington Street from Belmont Avenue to Harding Street. As new storm sewer trunk lines are installed, one eastbound lane will remain open to maintain local access…
