Following a thorough and collaborative investigation, two individuals have been sentenced in connection with the July 3, 2024, road rage shooting that occurred on Interstate 65 near the 130.5-mile marker in Whitestown. The incident involved a semitruck driver who was shot and critically injured after a confrontation with a black sedan. The victim was transported by Whitestown Fire Department medics to an Indianapolis trauma center and survived the attack.
After an extensive investigation involving multiple interviews, search warrants, and coordination with partner agencies and the Boone County Prosecutor’s Office, Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department detectives arrested:
• James Brown (44) of Indianapolis, who was identified as the shooter. He was convicted of Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Battery, Criminal Recklessness, and Pointing a Firearm, and was sentenced today to thirty (30) years in prison.
• Kendra Johnson-Brown (44) of Indianapolis, the driver of the suspect vehicle, was convicted of Aggravated Battery, Criminal Recklessness, and Reckless Driving, and was sentenced to eight (8) years in prison.
