IMPD approves 10-hour shift proposal

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on Thursday night approved a 10-hour shift proposal for patrol officers.

IMPD Chief Chris Bailey posted the following message on his X account Friday:

“STATEMENT ON PASSING OF 10 HOUR SHIFT PROPOSALLast night, the active members of IMPD approved a 10-hour shift proposal for our patrol officers. This is a result of the city’s labor agreement with the FOP, officer feedback, and the diligent efforts of the 10-hour shift committee. IMPD is committed to making this change a success, and I see it as an opportunity to strengthen both how we serve our community and how we support our officers.
