Thousands of Americans have been urged to delay refueling their vehicles amid concerns over high air pollution levels.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued air quality alerts in Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas on Tuesday.
The warnings mean ground-level ozone and particulate concentrations are forecast to reach dangerous levels.
