A Hammond man is facing a series of felony and misdemeanor charges after Indiana State Police say he led officers on a high-speed chase exceeding 120 mph, rammed a police vehicle, and refused repeated commands before being arrested early on Aug. 10, 2025.
According to court documents, an officer reported observing a silver GMC SUV traveling 102 mph in a 55-mph zone on I-80 near the 1.5-mile marker in Hammond around 12:57 a.m. The SUV then shut off its lights and continued weaving in and out of traffic. Officers attempted a traffic stop with lights and sirens activated, but the driver did not stop and accelerated, reaching 120 mph.
The chase continued onto Cline Avenue (SR 912), where the SUV was clocked at 98 mph before exiting onto 15th Avenue and eventually reaching a dead end near Cline and 24th Avenue.…
