ELKHART, Ind. (WISH) — For the second time this week, a northern Indiana commercial duck farm has been quarantined after bird flu was found, the Indiana Board of Animal Health said in a news release issued Friday night.
The latest case involves a commercial meat duck operation in Elkhart County, affecting 3,500 birds. On Thursday night, the board announced 2,617 ducks were quarantined in adjacent LaGrange County after the H5N1 influenza virus was detected on a commercial farm.
Control and surveillance zones also have been established in portions of Elkhart, LaGrange and Noble counties. Hobby poultry owners were encouraged to report any signs of illness in their birds…
