ROCHESTER — An Indianapolis man was arrested for alleged theft of a firearm.
Dwayne Anthony Sullivan, 19, Indianapolis, is charged with theft of a firearm, a level 5 felony.
On Sept. 5, officers with the Rochester Police Department observed a dark-colored SUV pass their vehicle northbound, going 85 mph in a 60-mph zone. Officers began to follow the vehicle, activating their emergency lights and performing a traffic stop. The vehicle was occupied by two people, one of them being Sullivan.
According to court documents, officers asked if there were any weapons in the vehicle, and Sullivan replied that he had a gun in his waistband. Sullivan and the passenger denied consent to search the vehicle. Both Sullivan and the passenger were advised to step out of the vehicle. A deputy who was on scene ran a warrant check on the firearm that was in Sullivan’s possession, and Fulton County dispatch advised the firearm was stolen from South Bend…
