LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Nearly two years after receiving a $500,000 grant to study the re-launch of Amtrak service between Louisville to Indianapolis, officials say they’ve made progress, but admit, it’s a start. They say growth in the region, plus gridlock on interstates, have made plans to reintroduce travel by tracks more appealing.
“Amtrak, along with the initial transportation bill, made a series of proposals of what their network might look like in the future, and that Louisville, would be back on their map,” said Andy Rush with the Kentucky/Indiana Regional Planning and Development Agency.
Rush said that the first phase of the plan is wrapping up which included evaluating possible stop stations along the corridor, and research on many people might actually use the service for work, or travel…
