Hoosiers’ Gas Tax Will Decrease In November

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana motorists will see a slight decrease in gas taxes next month. The state’s gasoline use tax rate will drop to 16.7 cents per gallon on Nov. 1, down from 18 cents in October, according to a notice from the Indiana Department of Revenue.

The rate is recalculated monthly based on statewide average retail prices before taxes. For the most recent tracking period, from Tuesday, Sept. 16 to Wednesday, Oct. 15, the average price was $2.3795 per gallon. Indiana also charges a separate gasoline tax of 36 cents per gallon, which increases by one cent each July. The federal gas tax remains 18.4 cents per gallon, a rate that has been unchanged for more than three decades.
