Indiana families brace for hurricane Melissa

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Hoosiers with ties to Jamaica are waiting for updates on Hurricane Melissa.

For Stephanie Bailey, every buzz on her phone brings both relief and worry. She says she’s had multiple sleepless nights for her son, dad, four brothers and extended family in Jamaica, and they plan to ride out the hurricane.

“There will be times without power in certain areas, so we won’t be able to get to our loved ones. It’s going to take a time for us to say, ‘Yes, they’re OK.’ We don’t take it for granted that they’re going to be OK because you never know how the winds will take the sea. We just ask that you keep us in your thoughts and in our prayers,” Bailey said…
