Elementary students given ‘tickets’ for saying ‘6-7’ by Indiana school resource officers

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WXIN/WTTV) — You may have heard enough of your kids saying “6-7,” but is it enough to warrant a ticket? School resource officers at one Indiana elementary school decided so.

On Wednesday, the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office posted a video to their Facebook page showing “brave” school resource officers entering the school and discussing a new county ordinance recently passed by the sheriff.

The law, called ordinance “6-7,” states that the phrase, recently declared the “Word of the Year,” is now illegal to use. The initiative was passed as a way to “keep parents sane during this time,” according to the TCSO.

As the video continues, the officers can be seen passing out tickets — which are fake, by the way — to students heard using the phrase and performing the accompanying hand motion. One officer is even shown explaining the fake law to a student…
