$4B Data Center Planned For Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — Plans to build a $4 billion facility in Decatur Township by a Seattle-based data center company would become the largest of its kind operated by the business. Sabey Corp. is seeking city approval for a 250-megawatt data center on a 130-acre site near Kentucky Avenue and Camby Road on Indianapolis’ southwest side.

The site, currently owned by Strategic Capital Partners, was previously rezoned for industrial development in 2020 but requires modifications and variances to accommodate a data center. Sabey is requesting changes related to building height, parking minimums, water system design and development standards.

Because the request involves only a modification of existing zoning commitments, it will be decided by the Metropolitan Development Commission rather than the City-County Council.

The proposal includes two large buildings and a 10-acre substation that would scale up to full power capacity over five years. One structure would span about 572,500 square feet, with the second planned at 490,000 square feet. The larger building is targeted for completion in 2028, with the other finished by 2030.
