Indiana bans SNAP purchases of sugary drinks, candy starting January 2026 amid health push

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Indiana families who use SNAP benefits will be faced with changes beginning in 2026.

According to the Family and Social Services Administration, SNAP benefits can no longer be used to purchase sugary drinks or candy beginning Jan. 1, 2026.
