IU researcher charged with smuggling E. coli into U.S.

INDIANA (WSBT) — A postdoctoral researcher at Indiana University is now facing federal charges, accused of smuggling E. coli into the U.S. using women’s underwear.

Court records show that in November, the FBI in Indianapolis received a tip out of eastern Michigan alleging that shipments of “E. coli” from China were being sent to IU researchers, including “Youhuang Xiang.”

The FBI said they found shipping documents showing that the researcher received a package from China, reportedly containing women’s “Underwear” from a company named “Guangzhou Sci Tech Innovation Trading.”…
