Immigration status of defendants complicates prosecution in fatal hit-and-run on Indy’s west side

INDIANAPOLIS — Two men charged in a deadly hit-and-run crash on the west side of Indianapolis asked for lower bail during a hearing in Marion Superior Court 7 Tuesday morning. The immigration status of the defendants complicates how justice system in this case.

Angel Osuvaldo-Franco, 21, raised his right arm in a cast to give sworn testimony at the bail review hearing Dec 23. That’s presumably an injury from a crash Dec. 11. He was allegedly driving the Ford Mustang that hit a Chevy Colorado pickup truck at Lynhurst Drive and Vermont Street.
