JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — In less than a week, Indiana’s ban on using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to buy sugary drinks and candy will take effect. It’s on the mind of Russell Waisner, who goes to Olde Towne Grocery off Maple Street in Jeffersonville daily.
Waisner is on a fixed income and uses an electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card, so he’s saying goodbye to his favorite treats unless he has cash.
“I can’t buy Faygos [anymore],” Waisner said. “And the Reese’s unwrapped, I can’t get those either.”…
