Tennessee man flees from Indiana State Police, dies in subsequent crash

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ind. — A man died while trying to evade Indiana State Police on Christmas Day.

According to a press release, state troopers first spotted 53-year-old John M. Pillen of Columbia, Tennessee, driving a 2014 Buick Regal by the intersection of State Roads 37 and 54. Police saw Pillen turn into a grassy median near the intersection and circle back onto State Road 37 northbound.

After Pillen drove through the median, troopers began to follow him and monitor his activity. Police ultimately attempted to conduct a traffic stop with Pillen north of State Road 37’s intersection with Trogdon Lane…
