Investigation underway after fire breaks out at west Indianapolis restaurant

INDIANAPOLIS — An investigation is underway after a fire broke out at a restaurant on the west side of Indianapolis early Sunday morning.

According to a Facebook post from the Wayne Township Fire Department, around 1 a.m. on Dec. 28, Wayne Township firefighters, along with Speedway and Avon firefighters, responded to a report of a fire at Junior Fish & Chicken, located in a strip mall in the 7300 block of West 10th Street, just across from Ben Davis High School.

A 911 caller reported that there was smoke in the area of Girls School Road and West 10th Street, and another caller reported a building fire in the same area, officials said.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they reportedly found a “well-involved” fire inside the restaurant and set up an aggressive attack. Firefighters were able to contain the fire quickly and prevented the blaze from spreading to the rest of the strip mall…
