IU Indy Black Student Union upset over MLK Dinner cancellation

INDIANAPOLIS — A nearly 60-year-old tradition will not be happening at IU Indianapolis this year.

On Wednesday, the IU Indy Black Student Union announced in a letter that the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dinner has been canceled for the first time since it began 57 years ago.

The decision to cancel reportedly didn’t come from the Union. Leaders say the message was communicated by the Division of Student Affairs through the Office of Student Involvement and was due to “budget constraints.”…
