2-year-old hospitalized after fire breaks out at residence on near southeast side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A 2-year-old was hospitalized after fire broke out at a home on the southeast side of Indianapolis Saturday night.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, shortly after 10 p.m., crews were called to the 1500 block of Finley Avenue — which is located between Interstate 65 and South State Avenue — to assist with a reported residence fire. When crews arrived at the scene, they found heavy fire emanating from a home in the area.

Firefighters later spoke to the burning home’s occupants. The home’s occupants told IFD personnel a juvenile was trapped on the second floor of the house.

After speaking with the occupants, crews quickly entered the residence and located the entrapped juvenile. The child was then transported from the scene to a local hospital…
