Southern Indiana fisherman catches record-setting longnose gar

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An Indiana fisherman set a state record at the very tail-end of 2025.

Justin Brown of Floyd County caught a record-setting longnose gar on the Ohio River on Dec. 30 using a jigging spoon, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

The fish weighed 23 pounds, 12.2 ounces, beating the 2008 record by almost a pound and a half…
