INDIANA — A suspect was taken into custody Saturday morning after leading police on a high-speed chase that began in Fortville and ended on Indianapolis’ near east side, according to the Lawrence Police Department.
Police said the incident began around 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 24 when an officer clocked a Subaru traveling 95 mph westbound on U.S. 36 in Fortville. The officer reported seeing the vehicle move into an oncoming lane to pass a semi. When the officer activated emergency lights and sirens, the Subaru continued to flee at a high rate of speed.
Dispatch later advised that Fortville officers were pursuing a Subaru traveling up to 105 mph westbound on Pendleton Pike. Lawrence police said officers deployed spike strips on Pendleton Pike, which the Subaru struck, causing it to slow down…
