Significant Snow and Dangerous Cold

The significant winter weather system that’s making its presence felt across Indiana starting this evening and continuing through Monday morning as a substantial snowfall event, especially south of I-70. The snow could get heavier into Sunday. This is shaping up to be a long-duration event, which means significant accumulations are likely. We are anticipating widespread snow totals of 6 inches or more from I-70 southward, with some areas potentially seeing more.

Beyond the snow, the cold is going to be a major factor. We are under a Cold Weather Advisory starting Sunday night and extending into early next week. Temperatures will plummet, and when you factor in the wind, we’re looking at dangerous wind chill values that could drop as low as 15 to 20 degrees below zero at times. Road treatments will have limited effectiveness in these frigid temperatures, leading to slick and hazardous travel, so be careful out there and stay warm!
