BEECH GROVE, Ind. – An investigation is underway after it took fire crews nearly five hours to put out a fire at a Beech Grove church Friday night.
According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, at approximately 10:43 p.m., crews were called to the Independent Nazarene Church in the 5152 E. Hornet Avenue for a reported building fire.
Crews reported seeing heavy fire and smoking coming from the roof of the church as they arrived on scene. Fire crews began an “aggressive offensive attack” on the fire at 10:55 p.m., but crews were pulled from the building and had to move to a “defensive attack” when their water supply line was ran over by a vehicle on Emerson Avenue.
