Mass overdose hospitalizes 6 as poison control rushes to scene

Six people were hospitalized on Wednesday after authorities responded to a report of a possible mass overdose in downtown Indianapolis.

Officials from the city’s fire and police departments, as well as EMS workers, arrived at the “overdose scene” across the street from the Julia Carson Transit Center and the City-County Building after several 911 calls were made just before 3 p.m. Callers reportedly described the victims in varying states of injury, according to FOX59/CBS4.

“One is laying in a pile of water, one rolled in the street and busted his face,” one 911 caller told Indianapolis fire officials.”They’re just ODing everywhere,” another reportedly said. “There’s one, two, three, four, five of them.”

Emergency crews found six people experiencing “symptoms consistent with a drug overdose,” four of whom were reportedly struggling to breathe. Officers gave Narcan to at least one person on scene, but it did not reverse the symptoms, according to IMPD…
