INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis mother appeared in a Marion County courtroom Thursday and was charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death and neglect of a dependent resulting in bodily injury.
According to court documents, Mea Hawkins’ 3-year-old daughter was found unresponsive with foam coming out of her mouth on July 28, 2025. Hawkins allegedly told police her daughter and the child’s older sibling were sleeping on a coach at friend’s home. Hawkins said she was sleeping in another room.
Court documents say Hawkins had brought the children over to a male friend’s home to stay the night. The male friend said he woke up to find Hawkins screaming and carrying the 3-year-old out of the front door. The male called for an ambulance, and medics took the 3-year-old to St. Vincent Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital…
