INDIANAPOLIS, IND. (WOWO) With just five days remaining in the 2026 Indiana legislative session, several high-profile bills failed to advance after missing committee deadlines.
Senate Bill 21, which would have officially designated the breaded tenderloin as Indiana’s state sandwich, passed the Senate in January but never received a hearing in the House Committee on Governmental and Regulatory Reform. The bill’s sponsor resigned soon after the Senate vote.
Other legislation that stalled includes Senate Bill 182, which would have defined male and female consistently throughout state law, determined prisoner housing by biological sex, and required school bathroom use aligned with biological sex.
